Jason T. FitzgeraldDr. Fitzgerald comes to CTSA from Billings, MT. He received his undergraduate degree, with honors, from Montana State University. Dr. Fitzgerald completed medical school at the University Of Washington School Of Medicine. After medical school, Dr. Fitzgerald completed his surgery residency at the University of California, Davis. To complete his thoracic surgery residency, Dr. Fitzgerald went to the University of Utah, Salt Lake City. Dr. Fitzgerald also completed a research fellowship in transplantation at the University of California, Davis.

In addition to his clinical practice, from 2010 – 2016, Dr. Fitzgerald worked with physician assistants as a clinical professor at Rocky Mountain College in Billing, Montana. He has been published in many national publications on various medical topics, related to surgery, and has been a national speaker at 15+ national surgical forums. Dr. Fitzgerald is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Fitzgerald is also a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Fitzgerald specializes in a full range of adult cardiothoracic surgery, with special expertise in minimally invasive valve, mitral valve replacement, and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) surgeries. Dr. Fitzgerald’s believes in a collaborative, team based approach to care, involving the patient, family, the surgeon, and other members of the team. The goal is to ensure an excellent care experience and recovery process.

When not taking care of patients, Dr. Fitzgerald enjoys skiing, trail running, cycling, and spending time with his family.
